SUNDAY UPDATE - April 20, 2026

Hi Volleyball Players & Families,

I hope everyone is having a nice weekend!  We are moving into the second to last week of the regular season.  Here are the updates and schedule for the upcoming week.  

Senior Night - Please be reminded that Senior Night is on Wednesday, April 29th at Westview, our last home match of the season vs. Poway High School.  Parents of senior players will be admitted at no charge.  The Senior Night Committee has a great program planned to recognize and celebrate our seniors.  Please bring your friends and families out to support.  Come early to get a good seat!  More on this in next week’s email.  

End of Season Banquet - Save the date, our banquet is scheduled on Friday, May 22nd in the Westview gym.  It is expected to run from ~6:00-8:30pm. Up to 4 attendees (including your player), are covered in your season donation. Dinner will be served.  Additional attendees can purchase admission for $5.00 per person.  Details and an invite/RSVP to come as we get closer to the date.  

Season Donations - Please remember to submit the season donation for your player. We now have 96% of families who have responded. (I think this is a record response rate!) If I do not have a receipt of payment or I was not contacted privately, direct email messages were sent to the player’s parent(s)/guardian(s). Please, if you are unable to make a full or partial donation this season, let me know privately by responding to the direct message.  I will take you off of my reminder list - no questions asked!

The suggested amounts are $575 for Varsity & JV, and $475 for Frosh.  You may pay by Square on the WAF website using this DONATION LINK.  If you prefer to pay by check, please make your checks payable to “Wolverine Athletic Foundation” and include “Boys Volleyball” & your player’s name on the memo line.  You may give checks to me for depositing with WAF.  I am at most all matches, home and away.  Or email/text me and we can arrange a pick-up.  

Remember, your contributions are tax deductible (EIN 93-4616081). If you plan to request an employer match, please let me know so that I can track that it is properly deposited to Boys Volleyball when it is received by the WAF.  We depend upon your donations to keep the Program in a solvent position and running smoothly.  I will let you know when your match is received.  Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Uniform Returns - I will be scheduling uniform check-ins/returns following the end of the regular season.  Players are expected to return both jerseys (black and white), two (2) practice t-shirts, and Frosh must return their two (2) pairs of game shorts.  JV & Varsity may keep their two (2) pairs of Slunks.  

Be reminded, if you are not graduating and plan to return to Westview volleyball next year, you are expected to use these two (2) pairs of Slunks.  New Slunks will not be distributed to returning JV and Varsity players.  Please do not trade/sell your Slunks at Nationals!  You know who you are! ;-)  

Frosh & JV returns will be organized first, likely during the first week in May.  Varsity will follow at the conclusion of CIF playoffs. Please wash all items before returning.    

Monday, April 20th - Practice for all teams from 4:00-5:40pm.  We need to vacate the gym early for Badminton. 

Tuesday, April 21st - Home match day for all teams vs. La Costa Canyon High School. Players make your way to the gym immediately upon release from school at 3:35pm.  If you have a 4th period off roll, please be at the gym by 3:20pm.  Frosh & JV teams start play at 4:30pm.  Varsity to follow at ~6pm. (*Please note, there is a modified bell schedule again today to accommodate state testing for 11th grade students.)  

Varsity team does not have a meal planned.  If you or a group of families can contribute, please SIGN UP here.  Otherwise the Varsity players will be on their own for food - be prepared.  

JV team meal provided by the Mo family. 

Frosh team meal provided by Chang (Ashton), Joseph, & Camerino families.  Way to get together Frosh families to share the cost!

This is a home match, so we will be selling admission tickets at the door.  Thank you to the volunteers who have signed up to work the table.  EJ Lee (Bae) will sell tickets from 4:15-5:30pm; Lina Yu (Nguyen) from 5:30-7:00pm; and Jolene Zarzycki from 7:00-8:15pm.  I will be there to set up and close down, to cover if your kid is on the court, and to help if you need a break.

Saturday, April 25th - Frosh 1-day tournament hosted by Scripps Ranch High School.  More information to come during the week once received from the tournament organizers. 

Frosh team meal provided by the Hoesly, Mageshbabu, & Del Rosario families.  Again, a great example of teamwork by our Frosh families!  

Summer Camp - The REGISTRATION LINK for volleyball summer camp, scheduled from July 20th-22nd, is live on the WAF website. Two sessions are planned.  A morning session for girls and boys in grades 3 through 8.  And an afternoon session for boys only in grades 9 through 12.  Sign-up early for best pricing!
